About me
Dr. Pam Powell spent over two decades as an elementary teacher prior to her appointment at Northern Arizona University. While there, she served as Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning and as Associate Dean of the College of Education. In the state of Arizona, she served on the Governor’s First Things First Board for ten years, Arizona Association for the Education of Young Children Board (3 years), and on First Things First (FTF) Research and Evaluation National Advisory Panel. She also served on the AzASCD State Board as a Member at Large and as AzACTE’s Board President. She continues to be committed to the Hopi Education Endowment Fund Board and the Navajo Nation Teacher Education Consortium.
Currently, she serves Southern Utah University as Dean and Professor in the Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education and Human Development. She has been a champion for rural education. She is committed to children and wants all children to have maximum opportunities to reach their potential. In addition, she is very involved in the promotion of quality early learning opportunities for all children.
