About me
Dr. Malia Hite has served as the Executive Coordinator of Educator Licensing for the Utah State Board of Education for the past five years. She led Utah’s shift to a competency-based educator preparation and licensing system, digital licensing applications, science of reading teacher preparation improvements implementation, state-based EPP approval, and a teacher apprenticeship pipeline program. Thinking innovatively to reduce barriers to the profession and provide flexibility in meeting requirements has been the hallmark of her work. Dr. Hite has spent nearly 30 years in public education in a variety of schools, districts, universities, and state educational organizations focusing on educator licensing and preparation, special education, and mathematics.
