About me
Dr. Jared Chapman is the founder of Delphinium and a professor of Organizational Behavior at Utah Valley University. With over 25 years of experience in education and educational technology, he has dedicated his career to solving engagement challenges in online and hybrid learning environments.
Dr. Chapman holds a PhD in Applied Social Psychology, a Master's in Educational Technology, and a Masters in Business Administration. His research journey began in 2012 when he observed students' engagement with smartphone games and wondered, "What if I could get them addicted to my homework instead?" This question sparked over a decade of research and development, resulting in the creation of Delphinium.
As an educator and researcher, Dr. Chapman has published numerous peer-reviewed papers on gamification and student engagement. His work at Delphinium has demonstrated remarkable results, including a 31% reduction in failure rates in online courses. He combines academic rigor with practical classroom experience to create solutions that work for real teachers and students.
Dr. Chapman is passionate about giving teachers their "Saturday nights back" while helping students take ownership of their learning. His approach to educational technology focuses on creating simple, effective tools that enhance rather than replace teacher expertise. When not transforming education, Dr. Chapman teaches at UVU and continues his research into student motivation and engagement strategies.
