About me
Since 2014, Cathy Davis, M.Ed. has served as the Suicide Prevention Specialist for the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) focusing on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention (after a suicide) efforts.
She began her education career in 1994 as a science educator. She taught ecology, biology, and health sciences (anatomy and physiology) for over eighteen years at Murray High School. For seven of those years, she created curriculum and managed a school success program for dropout prevention in Murray School District.
Cathy is a small business owner and a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program. She has training in eating disorders, grief counseling, trauma-informed care, CAMS-4-Teens, and is certified by the American Association for Suicidology as a school suicide prevention specialist. Cathy is a certified QPR Trainer, Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer, and PREPaRE (NASP) trainer.
Cathy is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Utah, with an expected graduation in Spring 2027. She has presented extensively throughout Utah and nationally at the American School Counseling Association Conference and the American Association of Suicidology Conference.
Cathy loves spending time with family, playing the piano, hiking, and strives to be a Scrabble champion.
